Ever use want a piece of pie for breakfast? Now you can have it! This Apple Pie Monkey Bread is a winning combination of the flavors of apple pie and the ease of monkey bread. If you haven’t had monkey bread before, it’s basically a fun way to have a pull-apart breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
You can make it all sorts of fun ways. I’ve made everything from Pumpkin Spice to a savory Bacon, Egg & Cheese version! I decided to go with an apple pie theme this time since apple pie can be a Fall favorite, or even a year round treat. I mean, do you really need an excuse to have apple pie?
Generally monkey bread is a sweet dish that is made with a piece of bread or biscuit dough rolled in cinnamon sugar and baked in a butter mixture that, in the end, makes up it’s on sort of gooey sauce. For this apple pie version, I simply used a spiced up apple pie filling.
It’s lightened up by not using any butter (there’s no need) and using sweeteners in place of most of the sugar. The end restful is this delicious bunt of apple pie goodness.
