If you haven’t noticed by now, I sort of like to put foods that I love together to make something completely new. These Pizza Waffles are just one of those things! I picked up a waffle maker a few months back now after a good year or two of my old one having give up the ghost. So, I’ve been having a lot of fun with playing around with the new one.
These Pizza Waffles are super easy to make and delish! I used some puff pastry sheets as the dough, since we’re filling these waffles with the pizza goodness. Sauce, cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings are tolled up in the puff pastry and then cooked on the waffle iron. No batter needed!
I added black olives, mushrooms, and some mini pepperoni to mine, but the sky is the limit as far as pizza toppings that you can use in these Pizza Waffles. I will say too that this makes BIG waffles, enough so that one is definitely too much for one person, so it’s best to share.
One of my favorite parts of these waffles is the melty cheese that happens on the inside of them. It’s pure cheesy magic!
Pizza Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 (17.3 Oz.) Box Puff Pasty Sheets
- 1/2 C. Pizza Sauce
- 1 C. Shredded Reduced Fat Mozzarella
- Optional Toppings: Pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle iron and roll the sheets of the puff pastry to be roughly 13x9" each.
- Top each with 1/4 C. of the pizza sauce and 1/2 C. of the shredded cheese.
- Add any other desired pizza toppings.
- Roll the dough up longways.
- Shape the rolls into a spiral and place them one at a time onto the waffle iron, closing as best you can.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, pressing down on the waffle iron as needed during the cooking.
- Once done, remove from the waffle iron, cut, and enjoy right away!
- Rinse and repeat for the remaining pizza waffle dough.
