These Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken Tenders are a fun and interesting way to serve up what could otherwise be a boring chicken dinner. By crusting these chicken tenders in some honey mustard sauce and then coating them in crushed pretzels, they come out perfectly crisp and tasty.
The homemade honey mustard sauce here is the key here and when paired with the pretzel crust on these chicken tenders, it’s even better. You can use any hard pretzels for these that you want for these. Yes, even the flavored ones!
To lighten these tenders up, all I did was swap out some of the mayonnaise for greek yogurt. Yep, that simple! Everything else about the honey mustard sauce and the chicken tenders is supple simple and guilt free.
I served my chicken tenders with plenty of sauce for dipping, and some steamed broccoli for a well rounded, simple, and delicious chicken dinner.
Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken Tenders
Ingredients
- 1/2 C. Light Mayonnaise
- 1/4 C. Plain Fat Free Greek Yogurt
- 2 Tbsp. Yellow Mustard
- 2 Tbsp. Dijon
- 1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1-2 Tsp. Hot Sauce
- 16 Oz. Chicken Breast Strips
- 1 Whole Large Egg
- 2 C. Pretzels, Crushed
- 1 1/4 Tsp. Salt-Free Italian Seasoning
- 1/2 Tsp. Dried Parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with foil or a silicone mat for easy clean up; set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/2 C. mayonnaise, 1/4 C. greek yogurt, 2 Tbsp. yellow mustard, 2 Tbsp. dijon, 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar, and 2 Tsp. hot sauce.
- Remove 1/4 C. of the sauce and whisk that together with the 1 egg to make your honey mustard wash.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the 2 C. crushed pretzels, 1 1/4 Tsp. seasoning, and 1/3 Tsp. parsley.
- Dip each chicken tender into the egg mixture and then press into the pretzel mixture to coat fully.
- Place the crusted chicken tenders onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until cooked through to temperature.
- Once done, remove from the oven and serve with the rest of your honey mustard sauce to enjoy!
