Being a Texan means that chips and salsa are basically served with every meal It’s a staple snack that can be found in just about any home and perfectly fits the bill. Whether is breakfast, lunch, or dinner! That being said, most store-bought chips out there are a lot of the same. Lots of salt and oil involved.
Recently I’ve found that making my own tortilla chips is not only crazy easy, it’s also WAY better for you. They’re made with just 2 ingredients and are baked. Meaning hardly any oil and YOU get to control the seasoning and salt that goes into them!
I’ve made these Baked Tortilla Chips for a couple of weeks now to have on hand at all times. I’ve even ventured out to test them further with turning them into ‘healthy’ nachos - comparing them side by side to ‘unhealthy’ nachos. And you know what? I actually liked the healthy nachos with these Baked Tortilla Chips way better than the ones made with the traditional chips.
They are just as hearty (if not more hearty) than any store-bought tortilla chips. Dipable, dunkable, and perfectly apt for scooping salsa. So feel free to use these chips just as you would any other tortilla chips.
I use my homemade taco seasoning on these chips, but you could really use any sort of seasoning that you enjoy. (Though I would suggest something salt-free so that you can salt them yourself to your own liking.)
