Ah! Today is the first day of first grade for my little girl, and there is definitely a big difference between dropping her off today and dropping her off for her first day of kindergarten. I think every mommy in the world knows exactly what I'm talking about too. What can I say? It was an exceptionally long and drawn out summer.
Needless to say, I was super excited about making her lunch and getting her ready last night. Of course, to keep her little mind active, I wanted to be sure that she had the tools that she needed in her lunchbox to keep her going through her day. This better-for-you lunch has everything a growing kiddo needs and wants without having to make any compromises.
To keep this lunchbox interesting while staying away from the traditional brown bag sandwich, I started out with some SkinnyPop® Popcorn! Let's face it, popcorn is probably one of everyone's favorite things and my little girl is no different.
As kids head back to school, parents are looking for a tasty snack that they feel good about and their kids will love. SkinnyPop® Popcorn is just that – delicious, and made with just three simple ingredients – popcorn, sunflower oil, (and just the right amount of) salt. Perfect for the school year, SkinnyPop offers the SkinnyPack® with six 0.65 oz. lunchbox-sized 100-calorie bags in both Original and White Cheddar flavors.
Along with the SkinnyPop® Popcorn I make these wonderful Turkey, Apple & Cheese Wraps which are a fun twist on one of my favorite sandwiches. On the side I gave her a nice serving of green grapes and some baby carrots. And of course, I can't forget her treat; a gluten-free brownie and some organic gluten-free gummy worms! You know, because she's a book worm.
This popping good lunch is full of things that I know my little girl loves while also being wholesome and gluten-free to boot! And as something that's been instilled with us since kindergarten, it's also peanut-free because you never know which of their friends is going to have an oh-so-common nut allergy.
Yum! This lunch is so bright and colorful, it's hard not to fall in love with it's simplicity.
