So, I've been working out for about two weeks now, about three days a week. I gotta say, I've been feeling pretty good already! I'm all for getting lean this year. The place that I go for my classes offers ice water and also fruit or vegetable infused water. The water recipe changes daily. So far, I've noticed a lemon water, cucumber lemon mint water, lemon cantaloupe water, and a fresh berry water. They've all been delicious and perfect to drink before, during, and after a good workout.
Needless to say, the notion of the infused water got my wheels spinning once again on my healthy detox waters. I've made a few of these waters in the past, all of which I've loved. I'm an avid water drinker, outside of my morning cup of joe I'm a water all day sort of girl and I always have been!
With the seasons starting to think about changing, I thought it would be fun to make a more festive detox water that I could enjoy as fall approaches. What better way to enjoy the flavors of fall than with apples and cinnamon?
So why apples? Well, I got some local organic apples in my local produce box this week and I wanted to do something a little special with them to make them stand out. Apples are great for you too! They decrease your risk of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, cancers, and diabetes. Apples also reduce cholesterol, control your weight, and detoxify your liver; among other great things.
Cinnamon also has some amazing qualities. Cinnamon is used to help treat muscle spasms, vomiting, diarrhea, infections, the common cold, loss of appetite, and may lower blood sugar in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Pretty good stuff!
You can use any sort of apple you want here, but be sure that you use a cinnamon stick and not ground cinnamon. Why? Well, it'll make the water pretty muddy looking which won't be very appealing!
The calories counter here do factor in eating the fruit in the water, so if you get to the bottom of your water and feel like a nice cinnamon apple snack, go for it.
