Stop! Put the packet of taco seasoning down! I mean it!
Making my own taco seasoning is one of the very first things I began doing when I started cooking. My mom thought I was nuts. Why in the world would you make your own? Why in the world would you not make your own?
Those small packets at the store are full of sodium, mystery ingredients, wasted calories, and who knows what else. Not to mention they cost you an easy $.50-$2 per packet, for one meal. You can buy spices at the dollar store for $.50 each, and even cheaper at bulk stores. Spend $3 and have enough spices to season dozens of more cost efficient, flavorful and healthier meals!
