I've got to be honest, I feel rather toxic after the last month of constant illness and being on and off an array of medications and antibiotics. My body needs a little bit of rest and recuperation, so I'm going to give it all the help that I can get!
I should start off by saying that I am not a fan of cucumbers. I love pickles, and hate hate hate cucumbers. The taste, smell, texture... everything. But, like I said... I'm determined to give my aching body some much needed love.
I was rather surprised and delighted to find that after the lemon and mint, I didn't really taste the cucumber much... if at all!
I am and have always been an avid water drinker. I have never been a fan of soda and I'm not really sure why.
Staying hydrated is very important. 8 cups of water a day!
If you aren't such a fan of plain water, I can see how it would tend to get boring. Adding things to your water can add a bit of flavor and also help to detoxify your body, depending on what you add to it of course.
Lemon is a great addition to your water. Adding in a wedge or squeeze of juice to your water will boost your immune system, promotes healthy digestion, and will cleane and alkalize the body.
Why the cucumber? I ask myself that as I sit here... Cucumber aids as an anti-inflammatory and helps to rehydrate the body.
The final addition of mint will add a bit of sweetness, without any sugar. It also helps to settle the stomach and aids in digestion.
Tada! Detox water at it's finest!
Detox 'Spa' Water

8 C. Water
1 Cucumber, Wedged or Sliced
1 Lemon, Wedged or Sliced
10 Mint Leaves
Combine all ingredients in an airtight container and leave to steep overnight in the fridge.
I like to use these two smaller containers (about 1 quart or 4 cups each), because carrying around a giant 2 liter of water with me through the day just seems just a little ridiculous.
Do not allow to sit for longer than 48 hours.
Drink throughout the day and enjoy!
You can eat the fruit and veggies if you want or just discard them. Anyone want my cucumbers? Tee-hee.
