Pumpkin, pumpkin everywhere! My pumpkin game is strong today. In years past, I've made pumpkin flavored... almost everything. From mac-n-cheese to chili, and so much more. I have to admit that baking can sometimes scare me. It's such an exact science that when I go to make my usual adjustments, I sometimes end up with a failure. Baking is not a forgiving medium by any means. Over the years, I've taken my past failures and worked through them as best I could to start building up my baking confidence and knowledge.

Cut-out style sugar cookies have been part of that fear factor for me since they are one of the most simplistic and yet horribly technical cookies out there. However, I think that I've finally cracked the code!...

Breakfast Tostadas

Good morning, beautiful.

This is another oldie but goodie that I decided needed to get a bit of an update. The pictures were old and out of date and my cooking style has changed tremendously. It's the process of the ever evolving home cook.

Originally when I made these tostadas, my grandmother is visiting me from Oregon coast. She usually comes down once a year for a good 4-6 weeks to indulge in the Texas heat. What can I say? She's a born and raised Texan that is now denied the sun except for a single week out of the year when a few rays manage to peek through the ever looming clouds in the sky there on the Oregon coast.

Don't get me wrong. I love Oregon. And further more... I love rain.

At any rate, one of my grandmother's favorite things to eat are tostadas...

I'm always super excited around here for the release of movies. It's always been fun to have themed movie nights where I create dished inspired by the movie we're watching. One of the last movies we saw was 'Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie' at the drive in movie theater this summer. It was really such a fun kids movie. So, I thought with it about to be released that I would make a Captain Underpants themed treat!

Captain Underpants is perfect for family movie night. It's a film with a lot of heart. I love that the story explores the great friendship between Harold and George and their connection through a love of writing and creativity...
