I had this amazing new Stubb's Texas Sriracha Anytime sauce sitting and staring at me for a few days before it finally hit me. As the heat of Texas summer starts to consider winding down, that always means that we're getting back into football season. And what does that mean? Tailgating and homegating foods will be back in action before you know it!
These partly Asian inspired and partly Thai inspired meatballs make for a great part of a meal, but would also be amazing for your next gamely spread as more of an appetizer. Toothpick or pretzel pick friendly grab-n-go snack!
As an added bonus, they can stay warming in a crock pot for several hours (if you can manage to keeping around for that long!)
To make these meatballs lighter, I went with a lean ground turkey meat, keeping it moist and delicious by slow cooking in my crock pot full of this amazing sauce. Stubb's Texas Sriracha Anytime Sauce just hit the store shelves this past month. It's gluten-free, contains no artificial preservatives, flavors, colors, MSG or high fructose corn syrup; making them all the more guilt free.
What's better is that these anytime sauces are super low in calories while being full of bold flavors which are perfect for marinating, basting, glazing, or using in dips or other fun recipes!
Since I always consider Sriracha to be more of an Asian inspired flavor, I decided to use fresh ginger in the meatball mixture, topping it all off with some yummy mixed sesame seeds which gave just a little bit of texture and crunch.
I served my meatballs over a Cilantro-Lime Coconut Rice and with a side of fresh steamed broccoli and carrots to make it all a complete meal. But, as I said, you could always serve these up as a game-day appetizer for your next football watching party spread.
The recipe is easy to double for larger groups. Just be sure that your meatballs are cooked through entirely before serving.
