It was pretty chilly here this morning, so I was looking for any excuse I could to turn the oven on to help warm the downstairs up quickly. Brrr...
Move aside pre-packaged 100 calorie snack packs! This is the real deal.
That's right. You can have all that you see here for 100 calories. Plus, it's clean, gluten free, and has some nutrients to it. Plus, as an added bonus you get to warm up your kitchen on a frigid winter morning.
Haven't tried broiled grapefruit before?
Don't be scared! If you like grapefruit at all... you simply must try it broiled!
The juices from the grapefruit caramelize into a warm and sweet perfection that just isn't there when the fruit is in it's rawest form.
What can I say? I'm bananas for grapefruit. Aha!
Seriously, I'm so grateful for this amazingly perfect breakfast and/or snack.
Okay, okay. I'm done with the silly puns.
Broiled Banana & Honey Grapefruit

1 Large Grapefruit, Halved
1/2 Medium Banana, Sliced
1 Tbsp. Honey
Pinch of Cinnamon (If desired.)
Set oven to broil and line a baking sheet with foil.
Trust me, broiled grapefruit juice is not something you want to be stuck scraping off your pans...
Place the grapefruit on the baking sheet.
I like to lightly pre-cut mine along the edges and in-between each segment. This helps to get the juices flowing and also leaves it more easy to scoop and eat when it's done!
Arrange banana slices over the tops of each half of grapefruit.
Drizzle 1/2 tbsp. honey over each grapefruit and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon.
Bake under the broiler for about five minutes. Keep a watch though, you don't want them to burn!
Remove from the oven carefully once done.
Cool slightly and serve warm.
