Football season is upon us, and that means... tailgating, homegating and my favorite part of that - burgers! Not just any burgers though. In Texas, grilling and BBQing are nearly as big of a deal as football is. Nearly.

That being said, I've got a few friends and family members who are vegetarians, or who at least try to eat less meat. So, it's always nice to have options for them when we have our big game get-togethers.

That's where MorningStar Farms® Spicy Black Bean Burger Value Pack and MorningStar Farms® Garden Veggie Burger come in!

These burgers are delicious! I based them off of one of my favorites, but made my own homemade lightened up version of 'special sauce'. The sauce is perfect for burgers, chips, fries, etc.

This isn't a burger for the faint of heart either. It's a two-handed, hearty, messy, saucy burger that I chase in my dreams. But today, my dream became a reality!

The Skinny:
Buns are not included in the nutritional count below.
Servings: 8 • Size: 1 Prepared Burger • Calories: 338 • Fat: 21 g • Saturated Fat: 7 g • Carb: 19 g • Fiber: 5 g • Protein: 18 g • Sugar: 5 g • Sodium: 894 mg

Ingredients:
Special Sauce:
3/4 C. Light Mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Sugar-Free Ketchup
1 Tbsp. Sweet Relish
1/2 Tsp. White Vinegar

Burger:
1 Medium Yellow Onion, Chopped
8 MorningStar Farms® Spicy Black Bean Burger Patties
1/2 C. Classic Yellow Mustard
8 Slices Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese
8 Green Lettuce Leaves
1 Medium Tomato, Sliced
1/4 C. Thin Sliced Pickles

Directions:

In a medium bowl, combine together the 3/4 C. Light Mayonnaise, 2 Tbsp. Sugar-Free Ketchup, 1 Tbsp. Sweet Relish and 1/2 Tsp. White Vinegar until well mixed; cover and set aside in the fridge to chill.

Coat a medium skillet in non-stick cooking spray and cook the chopped onion until caramelized and tender.

Preheat the grill and cook the burger patties according to the package directions.

NOTE: I added the mustard to the patties while they were being grilled. Optionally, you can add the mustard when putting the burgers together.

When the burgers are nearly done, add 1 slice of cheese on top of each patty to let it melt.

Once done, start to build your burgers; each patty should be paired with 1 heaping tablespoon of the special sauce, 1 lettuce leaf, 1 slice of tomato and a few pickle slices.

I found all I needed at my local Walmart. The MorningStar Farms® products can all be found in the frozen section together! I got the MorningStar Farms® Spicy Black Bean Burgers and the MorningStar Farms® Garden Veggie Burgers.
