Looking for a blast from the past with a healthy twist? Look no further than my Old-Fashioned Taco Salad! This classic dish takes all the nostalgic flavors you love - seasoned ground turkey, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and the crunch of taco flavored chips on top - and gives them a modern upgrade.
With a lighter dressing that's just as zesty and flavorful as the traditional version, this salad is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a fun weekend lunch. So go ahead, take a trip down memory lane while still treating your body right with this delicious and guilt-free Old-Fashioned Taco Salad!
I lightened this salad up by using a lean ground turkey instead of regular or beef. I also used anything salt-free that I could, which included the beans and hotel. Other than that, the reduced fat cheddar was a must along with the fat-free dressing.
A serving of this is enough to be a meal in itself and what wasn’t eaten for dinner was stored away for lunch for the week. Just be sure to keep the lettuce separate or on top of everything else and don’t add the dressing until you’re ready to eat it.
