Healthified Apple Butter BBQ Sauce

This BBQ Sauce is amazing!

How amazing? I'm making some more tomorrow to take to my parents house for a BBQ and still have one more thing planned this week to do with it after that.

I was fortunate enough to get a bottle of Musselman's Apple Butter sent to me this week, at no cost. I immediately began to do research. What could I do with a bottle of apple butter? I found that there were so many things to do with it that I couldn't settle on just one.

I'm pretty fond of apple butter, but it's generally something that I use in the fall. Then it struck me. BBQ! And what's better? BBQ sauce!

You could use this tasty BBQ sauce on just about anything that you grill. And even some things that you don't grill!

I used half of the BBQ sauce to marinate and grill some chicken breasts while the remaining half was combined to make a BBQ ranch dressing for this...

What a mess. A beautiful blissful mess.

Apple Butter BBQ Chicken Salad. Oh, yum.

Ingredients:
1 C. Apple Butter
1 C. Tomato Sauce, No Salt Added
2 Tbsp. White Vinegar
1 Tsp. Onion Powder
1 Tsp. Brown Sugar
1 Tsp. Salt
1/2-1 Tsp. Chili Powder
1/4 Tsp. Allspice, Ground
1/8 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1/8 Tsp. Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

Directions:
Stir all ingredients into a medium sauce pan together until well combined. Heat on medium to bring the sauce to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes, stirring on occasion.

Be careful when stirring! The sauce bubbles and 'pops' up out of the pot sometimes. Ouch!

Remove the pot from the heat and allow to cool slightly before use.
