Dexter's Breakfast

So, a few many years back now I was pretty much obsessed with the TV show Dexter. And... no. I don't mean the cartoon. I mean the show about the serial killer that posed as a blood splatter analyst. On the day that the show would air, I would always make 'Dexter's Breakfast' to keep the mood of my favorite show going on all day long.

The breakfast came about because the beginning credits of the show are scenes cut together of Dexter making breakfast in such a way that it looks like a real 'killer' of a breakfast. If you know what I mean by my clever pun there.

I had forgotten all about my Dexter Breakfast until I saw some blood oranges at the store the other day. So I quickly grabbed up a few of them and started to plan out my 'healthier' take on this killer breakfast.

Everything here in this breakfast is what Dexter makes for his morning meal. The runny egg, to the blood oranges, and the hot sauce. The only real change that I made here was to swap out Dexter's Ham Steak for a thick slice of deli turkey.

It's a real cereal killer of a breakfast. It's low in carbs, high in protein, and so quick and easy to make!

I got my thick sliced turkey from the deli counter and had them cut me a piece of the turkey on their thickest number setting (which was a 10 at my store.) I used a 'maple smoked' turkey breast because it gives the same sweet 'ham' taste without needing to use the higher calorie and higher sodium cut of ham steak.
