San Francisco's Broccoli & Cheese Pizza (Sponsored)

It's here! It's here! It's finally here! The movie 'Inside Out' is out to buy, and just in time for movie night too. To celebrate the release I decided to re-create the infamous broccoli pizza from one of my favorites scenes in the movie.

"Congratulations, San Francisco! You've ruined pizza!" - Anger

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you, Anger.

"Who puts broccoli on pizza?" - Joy

I do! And I love it too. I mean... what goes better with broccoli than cheese? And what goes better on pizza than cheese? Besides, I will put vegetables in any sneaky place that I can to get my little one to eat more of them!

To re-create this pizza I used a thin and crispy whole wheat pizza crust, a reduced fat cheese blend, and lots of broccoli! For an added bonus I topped it all off with a good sprinkle of one of my favorite cheeses, feta.

I didn't want the pizza to have a traditional red pizza sauce since the one in the movie didn't appear to have a red sauce either. Instead I made my own herbed butter spread, just to give the pizza that bit of moisture that you would expect from a 'sauce'.

This pizza is so yummy that even 'Disgust' herself would give her approval!

There couldn't be a better pizza out there to go along with your 'Inside Out' movie night other than this one right here!

Thankfully, my little one is a vegetable fiend - even though she might say otherwise sometimes. She was stealing broccoli from the bag before I even had a chance to chop it up for the pizza yet. ...All the while telling me she didn't like broccoli. Hah!

The Skinny:
Servings: 4 • Size: 2 Slices • Calories: 278 • Fat: 11 g • Carb: 21.5 g • Fiber: 4 g • Protein: 17.6 g • Sugar: 1.5 g • Sodium: 605.4 mg

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp. Light Butter, Melted
2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
2 Tbsp. Fresh Parsley, Minced
1/2 C. Fresh Basil, Minced
2 C. Broccoli Florets
1 1/2 C. Reduced Fat Shredded Italian Cheese Blend
2 Tbsp. Reduced Fat Feta Cheese Crumbles
1 Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. or accordingly to the directions of your specific pizza crust.

Combine the melted butter, garlic, parsley and basil together in a small bowl until well blended.

Spread the mixture out over the pizza crust - this is your sauce!

Place the broccoli into a food processor or chop by hand into much smaller pieces.

Top the pizza with about 1 cup of the shredded cheese, followed by the broccoli.

Top the pizza with the remaining shredded cheese and the feta.

Place the pizza into the oven to bake for about 10 minutes or until the edges are starting to brown and the cheese is melted.

Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before cutting into 8 even slices.

Serve right away and enjoy!
