Quick Enchilada Sauce

This recipe for a basic red enchilada sauce is super easy and tastes great!

Store bought enchilada sauce has a good 100 calories in a serving and nearly double the sodium. No, thanks!

I left this sauce with a little bit of heat for the flavor, but not enough to burn my toddlers tastebuds off. If you don't have sensitive little mouths in your house, you can always get more of a kick by adding in more chili powder or cayenne!

Ingredients:
15 Oz. Not Salt Added Tomato Sauce
1/4-3/4 C. Water
1 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1/2 Tbsp. Onion Powder
1 Tsp. Cumin
1/2 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp. Sugar
1/2 Tsp. Paprika
1/8 Tsp. Black Pepper

Directions:
Combine everything in a sauce pan and give it a good stir. I suggest starting off with 1/4-1/2 c. of water and add more to adjust to your desired consistency. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.

Be careful when lifting the lid! Tomato sauce 'pops' when it's bubbling.
